Warnings and Restoration: An Introduction to the Book of Micah
Micah's name, in the original Hebrew, is a question: Who is like the Lord? The implied answer to the rhetorical question is clear: No one. There is no one like the Lord. The book of Micah is an invitation to encounter the character of God. He is the God who judges sin AND the God who forgives sin.
As introduced in this first message of the series, Micah is full of accusations of sin and idolatry and the warning of God's impending judgment for that sin. And it is full of the promise of hope and restoration.
And why? Because God is always faithful to his character and to his word. He promised Moses that if the people forsook their worship of him as the one true God, they would be punished. But he also promised that he would make a way of forgiveness of sins for the sake of the glory of his mercy, kindness, grace, and love.
