In chapter 1, Micah pronounced judgment for the idolatry first of Samaria and then of Jerusalem.

In chapter 2, Micah zooms in on the twisted leaders of Israel that led the people away from the Lord and into that idolatry. In this message we see that:

• Twisted leaders scheme wickedness
• Twisted leaders exploit people
• Twisted leaders say what people want to hear, even while robbing them
• Twisted leaders bring disgrace upon themselves and disaster upon the people

And then we see that Jesus is the Good Shepherd, the Good King, who goes before his people to protect them and then gives his life for them. If the difference between a good king and an evil tyrant is not the system of governance but the character of the king, we can have great assurance because Jesus, the great King, rules and reigns over us.
